Credit Union Plus Launches New Charity Partnership with Meath Women’s Refuge

Credit Union Plus and Meath Women’s Refuge & Support Services launched a new charity partnership today (24th November) aiming to raise funds to help women and children experiencing domestic violence and abuse in Meath and the wider northeast region.

Over 51,000 members of Credit Union Plus in Navan, Ballivor-Kildalkey, Dunshaughlin, Ballyjamesduff and Clonmellon-Delvin, will be invited to donate to a dedicated charity account in branch or by EFT.

During this Partnership Credit Union Plus members, employees, families, and friends can help to raise vital funds to support the MWRSS to continue providing their services. We have set up an Appeal Account here in the Credit Union and our members can donate as little as €1 to make an enormous difference in the lives of local women and children in need.

Our members can donate online by Electronic Funds Transfer to:

–              IBAN: IE94 MNCU 9910 3205 2747 01

or

–              over the counter at any of our five Branches

Navan, Dunshaughlin, Ballivor, Clonmellon and Ballyjamesduff.

The Board of Credit Union Plus launched the partnership with an initial donation of €4,000.

Speaking at the launch, Frances Haworth, Meath Women’s Refuge & Support Services, said:

“Last year we provided 118 women and children with emergency refuge accommodation, and supported 454 women in the community as well as answering 2,006 calls to our helpline. Christmas is an especially busy time of year for our service as women experiencing abuse can be more isolated than usual. The support of Credit Union Plus is a huge boost for our work, and we are very grateful to all the members, employees and Board for making it happen.”

Also speaking at the Launch Credit Union Plus CEO Phil Hegarty said:

Credit Union Plus has always admired, respected, and supported the tireless work of the Meath Women’s Refuge & Support Services. They support families in desperate need of what many of us take for granted, a safe place to stay and care for your children without the fear of violence. They also provide outreach services in the community and support children and young people through dedicated programmes. We are delighted to build on our long-standing relationship and partner with MWRSS to support them as they expand their much-needed services and facilities to continue their essential work in our communities.
