Credit Union Plus proudly marked the 50th anniversary of serving the financial needs in the communities of Ballivor and Kildalkey with a heartwarming celebration at our local branch last Saturday the 1st of June. This milestone event brought together past and present, as current employees ,members, and several of our former and original founding board members gathered to commemorate this significant achievement.
The celebration, held at the Ballivor branch, was a testament to the enduring relationships and strong community bonds that Credit Union Plus has fostered over the past five decades. Attendees were treated to a delightful experience courtesy of Stonewall Coffee, a beloved local coffee van. Free coffees, pastries, and ice cream were served, adding to the festive atmosphere, and ensuring everyone had a wonderful time.
Reflecting on the journey, Sharon Reilly, Regional Branch Manager, shared her thoughts: “It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come since our humble beginnings in 1974 when Ballivor/Kildalkey Credit Union was set up by local people coming together to achieve in unity what was unattainable on an individual basis – a self sufficient financial co-operative. Our success is a direct result of their dedication and vision, the unwavering support from the community and the hard work of our employees, both past and present. I would like to recognise the foresight of our former Board of Directors in identifying the benefits of amalgamation in 2016, this provided an opportunity to bring our local Credit Union to new heights with the enhancement of modern products and services designed to serve the evolving needs of members, as technology and communication channels advance. This celebration is as much about our future as it is about our past, and we’re excited to continue serving this vibrant community for many more years to come as part of Credit Union Plus”.
The event was particularly special as it welcomed several founding board members, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for what Credit Union Plus has become today. Their presence was a poignant reminder of the commitment and spirit that has driven our success over the years.
